To Ascertain The Strength Of A Nalgene Bottle
Ever thought of testing the limits of your Nalgene bottle? To discover the treshold of its molecules? To bring it to extremes its never been? Well, I definately didn't! Until yesterday morning that is...
After coming in to office early I decided to fill up my recently bought 1 litre green Nalgene bottle. (My previous 600ml Vertikal died due to abuse.) I happily walked over to the toilet and filled it up. Walking out I met 2 sergeants (you know who you are) and began speaking to them. I had placed my Nalgene on the ledge beside me just before the conversation began. Lo and behold, as human nature would have it, my arms began to animate my speech.
Next I felt my left arm nudge something into oblivion. In disblief I turned to look at the position my Nalgene used to occupy. It wasn't there! The immediate thought that came to my mind, "My $20!" Afterwhich I heard the sound of plastic knocking into concrete and then a thud.
Looking over the ledge to 3 storeys down, I saw my Nalgene sunk in mud, just lying there, lifeless. "si liao la," or "Die already lah," was the next thought as my limited vocabulary of Hokkien allowed me. Maintaining composure, I calmly walked down to the 1st floor to ascertain my Nalgene's death. To my delight, the bottle was actually intact! It had hit the wall on the way down and fallen straight into damp soil. Thank God for mud! =P
In conclusion, I have found the Nalgene to be quite durable especially after dropping it from 3 storeys up. However, I would like to furnish this disclaimer: Don't try this at home, or anywhere else for that matter. You may not have the correct elements for this experiment available to you. ;)
here i am
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
(Psa 150:1-6)
this is me
Christ's life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20 MSG)
