Facing My Fear And Fleeing Temptation
Funny how God can speak while watching Worst Case Scenario on cable. They were showing a special "Face Your Fear" challenge edition. I guess it's time to face my fears and not run away from them anymore. Well, before reaching this point I thought it important to find out what that fear really is. Loneliness.
Being alone can get very familiar. I'm comfortable watching movies alone, going out on little photo expeditions alone and just looking for stuff to buy for others alone. But don't get me wrong, I don't particularly like it. I know God is always with me but I still long for that human touch. In His time, I believe the desires of my heart will be fulfilled.
But right now I have to stay focused. Not being selfish, getting caught up in MY wants, MY needs. My God knows my needs better than I do. And He knows what's best and exactly what I need, when I need. I need to stop ill-treating myself which in turn causes me to ill-treat others.
The Bible teaches us to "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7b) But the Bible also teaches us to flee from temptations, in the case of Joseph fleeing from Potiphar's wife (Genesis 39:12), and "youthful lusts." (2 Timothy 2:22) And to flee is to "run away, as from trouble or danger."
"Run from anything that stimulates youthful lust. Follow anything that makes you want to do right. Pursue faith and love and peace, and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts." (2 Timothy 2:22 NLT)
here i am
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
(Psa 150:1-6)
this is me
Christ's life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20 MSG)
