 Saturday (Edited)

Met Alex in the morning and brought him to City Music at Peace Centre to try out the Ovations. The only Ovations that were within Alex's budget were the ones made in China and boy did they sound like the plywood guitars from Yamaha... -_-" Bryan, the sales assistant, to the rescue. We found out that he was Christian too! :) He patiently recommended and helped us to try their own brand of guitars called Custom Acoustics. Bottom line: Great sound at a low affordable price!

We went around to Sinamex and the shop that sells Gibsons at Parklane just to let Alex hear what a really good guitar sounded like. He tried out the Simon Patricks, Timothys and the Taylors for good measure but didn't want to try out the Gibsons when he caught a glimpse of their price tags. I tried out a $6,000 Gibson just to let him hear it.

"Uh, Uncle ah, can I try this guitar?"

"Be careful with the guitar, it's quite costly you know..."

Lol. Paranoid uncle. :P The guitar sounded really really nice, even when I just plucked a few strings. No wonder it was so costly.

In the end, Alex got the last piece of this matte-finished Custom Acoustics model that caught his eye and ear. A really good buy indeed. :)

After that we had lunch with Aunty Ivy, Alex, Evan and Shaun. It was supposed to be Aunty Ivy's treat to the kids for helping her with the tracting around our church's estate to invite children for the CC's Christmas musical. Alex kindly asked Aunty Ivy if I could go along and she responded, "Yah, ok." (Or at least that's what I imagined her to have said. I didn't hear her reply. :P)

After that was Life Group in church. I posted this question to the guys, "Is God part of your life or is God your life?" Talked to them about not training their hearts to be hardened but to have tender hearts before the Lord. Also, spoke to them about letting the Word of God change our lives.

For Sojourners service, I lead worship with just my guitar and me. Encouraged the youth to not bring a sacrifice to God that would cost them nothing. That in coming to God it would cost them their pride, inhibitions, comfort etc. For sharing Uncle Ban did a hilarious "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" style sharing today. He did 2 impromtu skits with us.

The first was about an African family where the son (Jon Jon) was a young Christian on fire for God and wanting to go for missions and his dad (Rayson) who objected and his mom (Alicia) who supports him. The catch was that the family had to speak "African" (Or something that sounds like it. Think along the lines of cavemen.) And they had translators (Chris, Nigel, Dee respectively.) who didn't know who the family members were supposed to be and what they were discussing. The conversation got translated into something about the son declaring that Jesus would provide fried rice and the father objecting to it. OH, MY, GOODNESS! HAHAHA... :P

The next skit was about a bunch of missionaries reaching out to an unreached people group and how they needed to observe the communication methods of the locals and connect with them through their favourite past time. Some lines from the skit. "Eee, what's that skeleton doing there? (Refering to Chris)" "Eee, they don't speak English. (After 1 missionary said, "Huh?" When the locals were speaking.)" LOL. [By the way, the 2 lines mentioned were spoken by Raj. ;)]

The day ended with dinner at Thomson Plaza KFC and me sending some of the kids home. Enjoy it while it lasts, cost I won't be driving you guys around forever. :X

here i am
Praise the LORD.

Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
(Psa 150:1-6)

this is me
Christ's life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20 MSG)
